Exploring Ideas For Project Two

For my project two I am focusing on using the Netflix series, Sherlock. I really love this series and have been attached to it ever since I heard of it. I have a few different ideas of what I want to do for my project two. I think that the creators of this show really wanted the audience to see how unique it really was. They wanted to take the common story of Sherlock Holmes and make it more relatable to the modern viewer.

One idea I have is to rewrite the whole ending of the T.V series. I want to rewrite it in a way that I expected was going to happen. I think it would be fun to give the plot a little different twist at the end in my own way. I want to rewrite some episodes just because there were times that I thought certain aspects of the show should have led to a different ending. Also because even though I love the show, I really wasn’t too happy with the ending as it was. It left me wanting more and I think it would be pretty awesome to take that and make into to something more satisfying. Also, there were rumors of why the show just ended without a good resolution and I think that is probably why it seems so incomplete to me.

I was also thinking of rewriting one of my favorite episodes. I would keep the major context but just tweak a few things to make it go the way that I'd like. I love the mystery aspect of the show and it would be cool to make my own mystery out of it. I would keep all the characters the same and how they develop throughout the episode but I would change it up a little bit. For instance there is one episode where Sherlock fakes his own death and really leaves John hanging and John thinks Sherlock is dead. It kind of bugged me because they are partners and best friends. I would switch it up so John was involved in that decision by Sherlock in some way.

One final idea I have is to make a board, with lots of detail and color, just for something fun. On the board I would compare and contrast the tv series to the normal Sherlock Holmes movies. This is because they truly are very different. I think it could be fun to do that, just to really show how unique this series is. I think it is pretty cool how unique the show is even though it is based off an original. I would really want to bring the uniqueness of the show to light by using color and fun. It would be pretty awesome to look at and I would just really have fun doing it.

At first I was a little taken off guard on what to do with this series but after thinking, I think I have a lot of potential ideas to work with. Not only that, but ideas that could be fun and actually enjoyable. I really want to work with series in depth and use it for my project because I think it would be pretty interesting to everyone. I am hoping I come up with a few more “artistic” ideas because I really love to work with color and fun stuff like that. That is why I thought the board could be a fun thing to do. I will keep thinking and hopefully have fun doing whatever choice I pick in the end!  

Final Decision:

I have decided to take the route towards creating a new ending to one of my favorite Sherlock episodes. I think this was a good pathway for my project because everytime I watch shows like this mystery show, my mind is constantly wondering with “what ifs. What if this would have happened? What he did that? What if they changed that? This is my opportunity to shed new light onto an already wonderful series, by changing up the ending to one of my favorite episodes by a little bit. This will allow me to see what some minor changes could do a whole plot.
